For the few of you that know me, know that this as unbiased as can be. Let me state before this post that I have played out at Tactical, played up in Mt Pleasant, and was head ref at SGOT for the scenario. By no means am I as expierenced as those who have previously posted. These are just my opinions.
As far as my stance in the "scenario" world I would have to give a thumbs up to Viper and his events. The event I played at his field not only left me physically tired but mentally too. I enjoyed the game play and it made really think about what I was doing and why. Tactical, I enjoy the games and have my issues, but overall these games are an enjoyment. Its a completely different style of play than what is played at Viper's games. Thats why I can enjoy it. These two promoters/field owners offer completely different styles of play and both can be enjoyed. What we had at SGOT was a game put on for non-regular sceanrio players. It wasnt catered to either preferred type of player (meaning someone who prefers Tactical's play and someone who prefers Viper's play).
For any player who is interested in playing scenario, I recommend doing what I did. I played both and made a decision to which play style I like the best. Now, I am not going to say which one I prefer because I probably will still play both due to the friends I have at both types of events. But expierence it for your self. Enjoy what everyone brings to the table and choose for yourself. The more you play the better you get. Along with the better players you play against the better you will get also.

enigma, while I appreciate your advice on the type of games one should play, I surely hope that what you posted about the SGOT fiasco is not some kind of attempt to make that cluster f**k of an event out to be some sort of calculated and purposeful attempt at a REAL scenario. I have since learned that people have different opinions on what a real scenario should be, but NONE of them are anything like what went on at SGOT. I realize that you did what you could do to save some face for that place when the event went down (which I really appreciate). But, please don't white wash what was nothing more than a ball of confusion from the start. You couldn't find a single ref that could tell you what was going on and you had no less than 50 different versions of the rules. That thing was put on by the seat of Larry's 2 boys pants. There was very little thought that went into it and it damn sure wasn't some sort of intelligent sware' meant to challenge the mind and body... Give me a ****ing break! It was a way to make a quick buck, nothing more and nothing less. They screwed that thing up so bad that they couldn't even announce a winner without a disclaimer.
Tell Larry to lose my number and he can stick my $20.00 DVD where the sun don't shine...

Woodrow- I wasn't trying to save face. You know me, others on here know me, I am a player first. My post was only trying to inform those people on here who have never come out and played any type of game besides airball to go out and try what is out there. I am kind of insulted that you would take my post that way. It reads as a personal attack on me. You and I have had nothing bad between us and thats the way I would prefer to keep it. All I was trying to do was to encourage those on this forum to go out an play other types of paintball. My take on the whole thing is that if you were a player intrested in playing something other than airball and read all the stuff that has been said in this subforum it might discourage one from trying. Any of the arguments that have gone on in the threads have been good for those of us who play all differents types of paintball. I took a look back and tried to encourage those to try different types of play. Hince the reason I posted after I played T-Rev this past weekend. I am far from an expierenced player on any topic here, but I dont want those players interested in playing other types of ball to be discouraged. Thats the reason behind my post. Don't read into everything said in the scenario subforum.....go out and see for yourself. Thats what I did I now I can base a decision upon my experiences.
I tread a fine line with my involvement in a lot things that have been discussed here. I have pissed off more people than I care to. However, I do my best with what situations are given to me. Whether that be as player or as an employee. One person cant completely change something, adapt and deal with it, there will be another day. As far as I am concerned there are a lot things that have disgusted me with this sub forum. I have the intelligence to read through the bs and see what is valid. My fear is that there a lot of impressionable minds on here that don't and most us (who are adults) can take some of the blame. I play for one reason, myself. As it was said in another thread..." no one can tell me what my definition of fun is." I define that myself ever time I step on the field.

enigmaone2 - sound like you had fun out at Vipers, glad to hear it, I was out there reffing and it was a blast for me over at bridge 4.
I totaly agree with your point of the need to play different styles to personaly determine why types of games you personaly enjoy so you can make a choice to attend those types of games where you will have the most fun.
D_Robert you have your choice of September for the RTS game or Nov for Deadlands. RTS is cool since the commanders decide thier own missions instead of Viper. Deadlands tends to be little more complicated for the NPC's and Commanders but is still fun, there were 250 players last Nov. I'll be reffing at both so come introduce your self when you make it up.
I love playing the 8 hour games out at #1pb since that's about all my body seems to be able to handle right now. But for reffing Viper games are a blast.
it all comes down to "Play ball and have fun doing it" and just avoid those that don't or can't have fun. ;)

Don't take it personal, enigma. You do a good job of trying to hold that straw house together.
